Becoming

Life is about the journey, it is not about "being, but becoming."

becoming…adj. fit, suitable, congruous, proper, graceful, belonging to the character or adapted to circumstances…

"This life, therefore, is not righteousness, but growth in righteousness; not health, but healing; not being, but becoming; not rest, but exercise. We are not yet what we shall be, but we are growing toward it. The process is not yet finished, but it is going on. This is not the end, but it is the road. All does not yet gleam in glory, but all is being purified."--- Martin Luther, *Defense of All the Articles*, Lazareth transl., as found in Grace Brame, *Receptive Prayer* (Chalice Press, 1985) p.119(Thank you Bella Art Girl for the quote!)

The Beginning of the Goodbyes

I have started packing.  Since we packed minimally when we headed east, most of what we have is in use, and can't be packed until right before we leave, but I have started filling a box here and there.

We have started saying, "goodbye" and I had forgotten how painful goodbyes can be.  I don't think it ever gets easy to say, but it always feels like a shock to me at how difficult it feels.  And the next week and a half contain many more goodbyes to be said, each will be hard, but they are hard because the relationships are meaningful.  As much as it hurts and as much as I don't like the hurt, I am so thankful for the blessing of meaningful relationships.  They are truly a gift.

What an incredible journey, physical and emotional, you've had recently! You're family will remember this time vividly for the rest of their lives. You've given them such a gift. I commend you for your bravery and willingness to do the 'big thing.' I know good-byes are tough, but we're looking forward to having you back!!
