Becoming

becoming…adj. fit, suitable, congruous, proper, graceful, belonging to the character or adapted to circumstances…

"This life, therefore, is not righteousness, but growth in righteousness; not health, but healing; not being, but becoming; not rest, but exercise. We are not yet what we shall be, but we are growing toward it. The process is not yet finished, but it is going on. This is not the end, but it is the road. All does not yet gleam in glory, but all is being purified."--- Martin Luther

Apple Heads, Part 1

This is a project we did for a CC presentation last fall.  Following these instructions we made apple heads. The finished product tends to look a little creepy, if you ask me, but my great-grandmother used to make apple head dolls.  My parents still have some of them.  And yes, those look creepy to me too, but since my great-grandma made them, I figured it would be sorta cool to make some with my kids.  We didn't make actual dolls, complete with detailed clothes and accessories like my great-grandma made, but we did make some apple heads.

These are the photos we used on a display board.  The three younger kids took the display board  and presented it to their class.  Usually CC presentations are done in the class, but this was not practical to actually do in class.  It would have taken too long and been too messy.  The pictures worked to help my kids remember what all the steps were so that they could explain them and they gave their classmates something to look at.

Awww, teamwork.  Love it!  I think I need to frame this and refer back to it when it seems like all the kids do is fight and argue.  This is truly a beautiful moment.  Now one is shoving or yelling.  Maybe that happened right after the picture was snapped.  But this moment is to be savored.  They are so cute.  I love those little squirts.  Look at that focused concentration.  Adorable.

Pampered Chef sells this great apple corer.  It came in handy with this project.
